tests and random stuff..

on 8/27/2005 03:53:00 PM

I've finished my Computer Programming and Design test yesterday. Before the test, i was really anxious and somehow terrified, as previously a lecturer posted an announcement implying that we'd fail the subject because of our inability to write a simple program. I think it's not true, for my case, because i really put my heart into learning programming everytime during tutorial, jz that i dun have any idea wat to do with the tutorial questions, thus as the lecturer said, we copied the solutions wholly during tut. He said that's not learning, but it's wrong. I do learn from what i copied. Ignoring his condescending announcement, i studied and practised the programming part as much as possible. Yet, in a corner of my mind, i still think that the exam will not be that hard, and i'd surely do well. I can't afford to let this thought put off my determination to study, because i know it'd be worse if i dun, even if the test is easy. Perhaps this is my way of studying, assuming the test won't be so hard, so that i can study without extra stress from myself. I read the pass years questions, and a part of me was betting on the test being as easy as the previous years, if not easier. Yet I did not show it out, instead i looked worried, trying to make myself less over-confident. Hehe.. i'm such a hypocrite.

Once in the exam hall, the questions in the sheet proved that i've hit the jackpot. I felt so relieved once i saw all 4 of the questions. it's not as hard as i imagined, or as i wanted myself to imagine. In fact, i answered the 3 questions in my mind before the test started. then i wrote them down, and finished all of them in about 1 hour, including checking for careless mistakes. It felt so good to be out of the exam early, as i walked back from campus. The sky was dark, but i can see darker clouds lurking. It's gonna rain, i thought, and sure enough, when i reached home, the wind blowed really hard, with trees swaying and leaves rustling. In no time, it poured. phew.. lucky i went out early.

As Loo Mun's com was sent to repair (its warrenty is still valid! what a surprise for a 2nd hand laptop) she went over to kristine's com to do her assignment. Then she asked me to come over, which i did, to see some stuff. Before long, it sent me straight back to my room blushing, with them laughing at my innocence.. damn. Me no like that kind of stuff, k? let alone seeing it... gives me the shivers. Trying to forget wat i saw, i resume reading my chinese fic, which was much much better and interesting. I spent few hours reading it, until about 3am in the morning, then only i was too tired to continue on.

This morning i woke up at 12am. haha. so nice being able to sleep until my heart's content. But then still have to study for the monday electronics test. haiz.. this is so tiring. Can't we jz finish them once and for all?! Assignment deadlines are drawing near too. Felt like running away from all those stuff and jz read and do cg from day until night. Sigh. well, i guess this is the life of a uni student, eh? Really hope that my uni life wont be filled solely with exams and assignments..

Bad Hair Day..

on 8/23/2005 11:16:00 PM

I had a really nice weekend, as we went phototaking, shopping, and then cooking at home. but today everything seemed so bleak...

At first it's really refreshing, the weather cooling as it jz stopped drizzling as i walk to class. then the class dismissed earlier, which was a nice surprise. I went home, and after passing dex some stuff, he went home and i as usual stuck myself at my com until 3pm. Yining came back and then we went to the sundry shop by bike to buy rice and other miscellanious stuff. Well, the first bomb came when i was home again, checking the announcements by my lecturers. Guess wat? i'm going to be barred if i dun see the lecturer and give him a valid reason. damn.. I did go for class every week! jz that i went for other lecturer's class, cos he's incomprehendable when he speaks. Damn MMU for bringing in those damn foreigners who can't even speak english with correct accent.. Damn! so i have to go see that lec tomorrow to stare at him imploring while giving my made up half-truth reasons.. shit.

When i wanted to go class at 6pm, i went out with my bike with Kristine coming along too. Suddenly, as we were jz few houses away, i felt that my bike's back tyre was abnormal. Shit. it's punctured! Damn! How could it get any worse?! so grudgingly, i have to drag it back home and walk to campus. Damn it.

Was really discouraged during class, as i dun have notes, but copied down everything on the slides nontheless. Then after class we went testing laptops for screening. Kristine was teaching Dex how to use Photoshop while i sat there staring with hollow eyes.. I can't get my mind off being barred.

Went back home for dinner at about 8pm, and i ate my meal in total silence.. sorry for making you guys feeling awkward cos me wasn't in a good mood that time >"<

Later on, i tried to shrug off the bleakness. Am still trying now.. Loo Mun was having major problem with her laptop.. well, at least my com's still ok. Hope that things will work well tomorrow..

Not studying :P

on 8/14/2005 02:12:00 AM

Was telling myself that i have to study in case that the electronic test would come back early, but i jz can't. I was doing trivial stuff like taking photos of my anime posters, and photoshop-ing them abit before uploading them here and here. After that, it seem that i was so inspired that i decided to use the uploaded pics to do my blog sig. so the whole day i was playing with filters and textures in photoshop, and came out with this:

special thx to yining for adjusting the color with me cos i was too blinded to do that after few hours of staring at the same pic >"<. Hmm.. Wat do you guys think? hehe.. going to fix it in this blog later, when i have time XD
btw, the chinese characters means 'Can you hear the melody of Nature?' which i suddenly thought of, as i went pass my room's balcony looking at the clear blue sky. XD

Since i've reconfirmed that our electronics test has been postponed, my mood jumped from depression to joyous delirium. My failure in field theory test was instantly thrown to the back of my mind as me and kristine were comtemplating about going to mahkota for a movie. So, on Friday, we decided to go after our lab session, which was chaotic but we finally scrapped through it at 12.30pm, though half an hour later than scheduled :p.

We went to the seaworld for lunch, but found out that it was under renovation. Surprised and slightly disappointed, we went for the economic rice next door. it was ok, and after that we were back home, feeling lazy to do anything else other than lying on the bed. hehehe... we were so free and felt relaxed cos for once in this hectic week we were not in a hurry to do sth. It's such a nice feeling, being able to indulge in laziness fully.

At 2pm, we went out to board the bus to bus station. we waited quite long for it, as the first bus we saw--it's a bus wira-- was going other route and left us there, dumbstruck. On the bus ride, we were still in a slumber mood and fell asleep on the way. When we reached the bus station, We were kinda stuck there for about 30 mins because the town bus to mahkota was no where to be seen. hmm.. Come to think of it, it's the first time that we were stuck in the bus central. still in a light mood, we browse around the station and ended up browsing magazines in a small bookstore.

A town bus finally arrived in a while, so we went aboard. It was kind of packed, so me and kristine went to the back seats. there's an old man sitting at the other corner, but it was not until the indian girls giggled and turned to look at the man frequently that i notice he's mentally illed. And then i realize the passangers sitting in front of him will eventually move to other seats, as he was singing and nonchalantly nudging the unlucky passangers' hair. Well, i was pretending to ignore all this as i think he is harmless, if i dun pay any attention to him. later on a malay couple came in between me and the man, and the malay guy was sitting with his back to the old man, kinda protecting his gf, but i think it's unnecessary and rude to the ah pek, even though he's not right in his mind.

In a jiffy, we arrived mahkota and so we went to buy movie tickets first. On the way to GSC, we saw the pikom pc fair on the top floor, which was a let down compared to penang's, let alone KL's. the site was small and packed, but with only afew computer companies. We browse around the make shift store after buying the tickets for 'bewitched' and found that the stuff were not that cheap at all. I did not see a store selling wacom tablet, which was half-expected, since my dad can't find any in Penang too. Then, Kristine went in to Ausino, which was having sales. She was really excited cos there were like 50%-70% discount for the towels. she bought one happily and then we go to Mc D and indulged in our strawberry sundae. This is bliss.

Before long, it's time for our movie and so we went up to the theater again. We bought soft drink, which i ordered 100 plus. When i drank it, it tasted weird, kinda like carbonated water. Kristine agreed too, so we went to the counter to change it. I was jz stupid to choose ice lemon tea cos it tasted weird and diluted, but at least better than carbonated water... so lesson of the day, dun order not-that-hot-selling soft drinks in GSC. Nontheless, we went into the theater and enjoyed the love comedy. Nothing big or spectacular, and it felt like a fairy tale in the whole movie, with the 'and they live happily ever after' type of feeling.

When the movie ended, it was about 7 o'clock. we window shopped a while, and had fun trying out clothes in the retail shops. By the time we finished, we decided to go eat in pizza hut, in which kristine can get 34% discount, an offer from Maxis, for a certain set pizza. we went in and got our seats, when we saw an old couple finding seats too, and finally sat at the small table beside ours and they looked not that comfortable at it. As Kristine went to take her mushroom soup, i offered them to combine our tables together, so that they'd be more at ease. Before long, we were chatting with the pleasant couple, whom i later found out stay quite near our housing area. wat a coincidence XD. They were really cheerful and we were charmed with their presence.

After our satisfying meal, we shot out of mahkota to catch the bus back to the bus central. It was quite late, but all the way i was chatting with kristine, so we din feel the pain of waiting at all. Then, when we finally came back to bus central, we found out that we were stranded in the place again, as the last bus back to bukit beruang had gone off. Restless, we went around searching for buses going back to our place. Yet the nearest the other town bus would go was Jaya Jusco, so we jz boarded it without much ado. We sat on the bus for a long time, before the bus engine finally roared and convulsed, moving slowing and later picking up speed.

Upon reaching JJ, i was jokingly telling kristine that we might as well try our luck to see if the sushi is still being sold by then, which was 15 past 10 o'clock. To our delight, it was! and so was all other food product! so we went in to the food department and grabbed watever necessities that crossed our mind. It was fun, rushing against time to get watever we need, while some other couples were strolling leisurely while browsing the goods. In no time, we hauled our grabbings and paid at the counter.

By then sweating and tired, we took taxi home and was glad that we dun have to carry all our tons of precious food in bus XD. So that's how i spend the whole day, which was filled with fun and miraculously no haze in sight. hehe.

Haze...

on 8/11/2005 11:48:00 AM

*currently having runny nose due to the hazey condition*

Here are some tips to avoid diseases from the haze:

1. Masks need to be used by all motorcyclists, outdoor workers, those who are exposed to dusty places and those who are in the high-risk group.

2. The public is advised to stay indoors as much as possible.

3. Reduce outdoor activities.

4. Those who are in the high risk group (Children, Elderly, Smokers, Workers in open areas, those who have; Asthma, Bronchitis,Lungs inflammations, Chronic lungs problems, Heart and Allergy) are advised to continue medication as prescribed and take care of their health at all times.

5. The public is advised to wash their hands, face and bathe
regularly.

6. Those who are having cough, flu, asthma, eye irritation, chronic lung infection are required to go to the clinic as soon as possible if symptoms persists.

7. Those who are driving in an air-conditioned vehicle need to
start the air-conditioner and close all windows when driving.

8. The public is advised to drink as much water as possible at all
times.

9. Those who have children, elderly and relatives who are sick in
the house, please do not smoke.

10. Smokers are advised to stop smoking during hours where API is
higher than 101.

11. Those who are in the high risk category are advised to stay
indoors if API exceeds 201.

12. Please tune in to the radio, TV and major newspaper to get an
update on the haze conditions and heed the advice given by Ministry of Health and Department of Environment.

Jz read this in the mmu bulletin board. Later on someone gave me the link to the API (Air Pollutant Index) for all the states here. Well, the condition in melaka is bad enough, having the smokey white sky and blurry visibility. Yet, if we compare the condition here and those in Port Klang or Kuala Selangor, here's nothing. Over there, it's like going back to the time during 1997, when the air pollution was so bad. Click here for pics. Many schools in KL area were shut down for today and tomorrow and this includes Cyber campus as well. For more info read this.

Why the hell this happen to us? Why can't the indonesian government do sth about this annual occurrence? It's damn stupid jz apologizing every year and not doing anything to stop the recurrance. If the excuse is about money, it's lame. I seriously dun think that indonesians are so poor that they can't afford to put off the fire. Hey, wait, why do they burn the forest in the first place? Is it for the sake of agriculture? so that they can have fertilized land to plan their potatos? then why can't they seek a better way of doing it? We dun mind you being poor and having so much racism problem as long as we are not affected over here. but No... you have to cross the line, or perhaps i should say you have to cross the straits and give us this haze siege every year.

ASEAN should really look into this matter and provide good solutions, for our 'caring' neighbour's forest burning is getting from bad to worse. Why does the damn humans only care for their own selfish, short-term gains when the consequences are so obviously bad for others, as well as themselves in the present and future? The earth is already polluted enough! Maybe talking about saving the earth is too much for us puny humans. let's narrow down to our own place. Everywhere is too, polluted, in terms of air, water and others. you see rubbish everywhere, air filled with smoke and other dangerous gases, water only drinkable after being filtered so many times. At this rate of destruction, we are jz digging our own graves, at a faster rate.

Maybe it's not obvious enough, for those ppl have their eyes plastered with $$ and being 6 feet under was such a far away thought, which might not even occur to some ppl. They shunt off all the possibilities that they are in hazardous situations and their family and ppl they care will not be affected at all, because they are going to be rich. why do they even bother after they got all the capital they ever wanted? This is hopeless. Maybe it's better for earth to have only plants and animals...

Anyway, going to get a mask later for outdoors activity...

*edit* here's the newest API :click me:. sorry if i sounded kinda anguish up there.. was very tension cos jz finish my field theory, which i think i flung, and supposedly got test at sat. But then due to the haze, the test was postpone. hehe... at least sth good from the bad condition.. *sweat*

Getting packed..

on 8/05/2005 04:05:00 PM

Thank goodness that i'd recovered that day i posted the last entry.. white blood cells rulez! anyway, the first thing i did after getting well was to read manga XD. finished reading ashiteruze baby which was burned from Loo Mun's computer on Wednesday night, then me and my parents went out for a ride~ actually we went out to check whether YTM had banked in my scholarship money. Found out that they had (i'm not going to tell you how much i get :p) and we went home talking about investing the money in AIA insurance thingie, which might give quite alot interest compared to keeping in a bank saving account.

Oh, forgot to mention that before i went sick, i was obsessed with a neopet game called typing terror. it was damn challenging at the last stage, which i can't beat however i try. It's the first time that made me felt bad about my typing speed.. and yet there's ppl getting high scores which is apparently thousand points higher than mine. Felt like banging the wall. Vox should really try this, cos i have faith in your typing speed XD. anyone with a neopet account can go play it.. it sends my fist clenching and teeth gritting after the umpteenth time of failure >"<. Click here if you're so kind as to avenge me XD

On Thursday i spend most of the time reading chinese fiction, though was trying very hard to get my attention shifted to my japanese class homework. In the end i did, but not until after dinner, that is... did the vocabulary paper, was kinda hard in the end cos most of the vocab dun ring a bell in my pee brain. When i move on to the grammar part, most of it were familiar to me after reading through the exercises we did during class last time. >v< Finally some confidence sprung up as i continue answering the questions.

By the time i finished everything, it's about midnight so i scramble to the computer room and continue reading my fics. I can't resist cos they're so much more interesting than doing homework XD All this while my Mom had fallen asleep while reading the news paper (she told me that's the best lullaby for her besides television ^^;) in the living room. after finishing the fics, i gently nudged her and she woke up in a start, in turn freaking me out too at the same time >"<. Well, if i was sleepy before, i'm certain that all the sleepiness had flew away.

And then it's Friday. NOoooo...... i dun wanna go back! i wanna stay home and do nothing. I dun wanna go back and study for the test >"< Wuuaaaaa.... *bang the wall*
sob... but strange enough, throughout the week i'm home, there wasn't a single drop of rain during the day, and not much too at night. Weird. even the Taiping lake gardens are becoming taiping 'desert' garden... At first i was thinking of going out and take some pics of the scenic spot, but it was jz too hideous at the moment. Damn. Taiping's no more the rain town.. it's so hot even at home i can feel the heat. haiz. still, i wanna stay here! me dun want exam!! *cries again*

Anyway gatta go pack my bags.. bringing along my er hu after abandoning it for so long *guilt struck*

Virus Attack!!

on 8/02/2005 01:28:00 PM

Well, it's not my computer that's infected with virus, but me. On monday morning, i went to the general hospital for hepatitis B vaccine, which i can get for free after donating blood more than 2 times. It was ok, my left arm jz felt numb during the injection. Not really as scary as it looks, having the syringe penetrate into your flesh, then millions and millions of virus released into your bloodstream, doing some minor damage before being encountered by the white blood cells. Well, after that, i went home feeling happy that i can get the doses for free, while normally it cos about 80 bucks to get vaccined.

I started feeling weird in the evening. My head was throbbing and was getting heaty. My whole body ached all over, but i can still withstand it. I ignore the pain and carried on reading Harry Potter, which i borrowed from Dexter. Then i started to get dizzy and was force to lay down. Before long i was asleep and the pain got no better when i woke up. It's been so long since i last felt sick. The sensation was horrible, until i've lost my appetite. My aunt was really disappointed cos she'd cooked alot of vege for me but i din manage to finish. haiz.. i'd swallow all of them if i din get sick so easily. Damn virus cost me my veges... *sobsob*

Then, this morning, I woke up several times, once every hour cos i was suffocating. Before going back to sleep i'd drink some water to put off the fire in my throat. This is getting from bad to worse, i thought. Well, at last at 8am, i decided not to sleep anymore, since it wasn't doing any good. I saw uncle and auntie eating breakfast, so i'd try to stuff sth down my throat. I ate an egg tart and some milk. that was the best i can do.. normally i'd eat more than this >"<. After that, still ignoring the aggravating pain, i finished reading harry potter with much difficulty. why does dumbledore have to die? ish... really hope the last book will come out soon, to get over with this once and for all. >"<

After finishing it, i slept summore, until my sister came and woke me up to send her to school. I dun think i looked too good as she kept on asking if i can drive. My mood was so bad that i din quite answer her but jz drove her to school. damn.. the car was blazing hot and the air con was not working well to counter the heat. Felt the headache coming again while i drove back, and so i went to bathe immediately after reaching home. The cold chilling water proved to be a relief, but the dizziness still prevails, until i lost grip on the soap and off it went down the toilet. *sweat*

Come on now, my army of white blood cells!! wake up and do your job! damn.. i dun wanna feel sick anymore...
