Frenetic week (part 2)

on 2/26/2005 12:48:00 AM

Well, it kinda became a routine for me and kristine to wake up early at 9sth, unload the figurines, mangas and merchandise from our stuffy room to clc concourse and then get it back to our room tediously at 4sth. Once when i was waiting for lift along with the boxes and plastic bags of stuff, the cleaner auntie asked me if i was moving in.*sweatdrops*

During the 2nd day of the event, i was totally drained out. I blatantly slept in chemistry class (duh, i see nothing wrong with that XD) woke up jz to sign attendance and then slept again. at about 12, after the class finished (huh? wat class?) i went straight back to my room and slept the whole day off. In other words, i din go to the booth that day at all XD *arrrgghh... run or else gonna get killed by kidrock*

Waking up at 4sth, after getting back the stuff into our room, i continue with my search for info, which was dragging on ad infinitum... Why can't they jz gimme wat i want?! issh. It was a scorcher and i could feel the steaming heat in my breezeless room, which aggravated me even more. At last, it was time for Jap class. this means Aircon... and so i shot out of my room and went straight to the class. Seemed that i've missed out alot, being absent for 2 lessons... haiz. oh well, gotta copy notes from others then. In spite of that, my mood was pretty good, as i was in an air-con room ^^. An annoyed Loo Mun was going in and out of the room for getting the room for screening opened and then to fix the blunder during the screening XP. That must have rubbed her up the wrong way, as i saw her storming back into the class.

Anyway, i ran back to my room after the class *sigh* while Kristine went to get sum hardcopy articles from the library. Fed up with searching endlessly for the infos, i started typing out the introduction and even wrote out the first paragraph when kristine returned. Not bad~ and so we trudged on to burn the midnight oil until 4am, when i've typed out 2 points with full elaboration and examples for the essay (needed 3) i finally succumbed to sleepiness, having both eyelids weighing more than a ton.

In the morning, after the routine of moving out the merchandise, Kristine continued to finish up the essay, having no sleep at all during the night. I went for chemistry class at 10, this time not sleeping but staring pass the lecturer during the class with unfocused eyes.

I was told that Rashid had given out our most dreaded physics results, and so after class Ceyi accompanied me to his office, only to find it locked and no result list stuck on the wall. Darn. we walked back to clc, and waited for him to show up for Group 3's tutorial. He was so late! We've stood near the classroom for about 15 minutes when he finally turned up from the corner, walking sluggishly into the class. We stopped him abruptly and asked for my marks as soon as he was near us. As he fumble around in his bag, i was so afraid that he might leave the list in his room... I was on the verge of blasting off with the tension builting up in me as he finally pulled out the sheet of paper. *shocked* 3 marks less and i'd failed physics midterm... Anyway, I passed!! weee~~

It's thursday, and it's lab time. Great. everyone hates phy lab but today it was the worst. It was a pandamonium in the lab as everyone dun know wat's going on and wat the heck was the purpose of the experiment. At last, after 3 hours of struggling, somehow we managed to finish off the meaningless experiment and got all our datas complete. Phew... i was again engulfed by fatigue.

As if that's not enough, this 'heritage' restaurant can't even serve food on time. My dinner was ordered before 6.45pm and guess when i got to eat? 7.25pm! Darn! if my dad's around he would have stormed into the manager and demand for my meal and get it FOC... >"< this is outrages!! Grrr... by the time it finally arrived, Thye shin and Ailing had finished theirs...So, without further ado, i wolfed down the plate of chicken rice clean. Then we went back to clc for screening, where we are going to watch Apple Seed the movie.

In the lecture hall, it was dark and i almost tripped and fall off the steps. Luckily, i din, but Loo Mun had a great fall XD and got her knee throbbing in pain. It seemed that Yuhi fell off too, even worse, twice. haiz. Anyway, the lecture hall was filled with many ppl *so touched* and the movie was great. After the show we had a lucky draw, which went on smoothly as well. and so, our EMINA 3rd birthday event ended successfully. Wat a relief~ thx to everyone, we've got it through non-too-disasterously. Phew.

So that's all with the frenetic week of mine~ now i'm revelling in the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction from finishing my academic essay in time and having the event ended nicely. Tough week. but worth it. So there~

Frenetic Week

on 2/25/2005 01:20:00 AM

Phew... it must be a miracle that i survived this week. Being the Assistant Director of the EMINA 3rd birthday celebration, which was held on tues to thurs this week got me up to ears with work. I was told that the FMD ppl would take out the partition boards, tables and chairs to clc concourse on Monday, thus i was there at 9am waiting for their arrival. Despite that it took them ages to come, there seemed to be some complication. in the agreement, we were given 4 tables, which was not enough for our event. We later on asked for extras and luckily we obtain 4 more. The whole morning i was practically running between FMD office and clc concourse. good exercise for me :P

That night, the deco team and other working committees were to decorate the back drop and the partitions. It was quite chaotic as no one knows certainly how they are suppose to deco and the progress was really slow. at midnight, the back drop was still in a mess, with pieces of colour paper scattering around. Worse, the deco team were leaving due to unfinished assignments, bla bla bla... they got the T-shirts and went off leaving us blank and helpless. After much confusion and difficulties, the rest of the comms managed to set up wordings on the partition boards and also the back drop. At 3am, only a few comms were still standing and finished the back drop. By then, everyone was very tired and sleepy, not to mention being constantly bitten by mosquitos.

On tuesday morning, most of us being deprived of sleep, comms went to the site and continued sticking up artworks and posters and stuff onto the boards while i went to CITS to get the PA system. After trudging back to the site, we found out that the PA system was without extension wires, and thus i painstakingly ran back to CITS to get them. Instead of taking them, I was told to go to FMD office to borrow them. All sweaty by then, i obediently trot over there and practically begged for extension wires. I was on the verge of exploding when the kakak there agree to lend it to me without requesting procedure. Cool~ by the time i went back to clc concourse, the booths are already set up and the merchandise were on display, ready for sale. The models and figurines and mangas were also arranged on the tables. Before long, students were crowding over the booths, admiring the figurines and eyeing the colourful and cool anime posters.

At about 11am, everything was ready and all we need to do was inform Mr. Syokor for our opening ceremony. About then, i saw Loo Mun getting dressed up in a red yukata by Lynn, who cosplayed as a witch (scary...). Loo Mun looked so cute in yukata, which is a type of kimono worn during summer. Before long, i was also dressed up in one and we took pictures together. it was hot wearing an extra layer of clothes(we still wore t-shirt and jeans under the yukata :P) in the hot day, but fun nontheless. I was always tripping over the overlong yukata, as i walked around, supposedly to attract more ppl to the event. Hope i din scare off ppl instead XD. At 12.30pm, the opening ceremony started off and gone smoothly, despite that khurshid got knocked by a fallen partition board on the head and got stitches on the head b4 the ceremony. *sweat* he must have a really high HP compare to normal ppl :P

I stayed in the clc concourse during the day until 4pm, skipping all my classes. The place was packed with streams of students at peak hours, crowding the booths, watching anime screened on laptops and getting their hands on the limited merchandise, which were selling like hot cake, especially the posters. Other times with less ppl around, i'd sit down and watch the anime too. without knowing it, it's already 4pm, with me getting tired and stuffy and hot in the yukata. After packing the stuff and keeping them in the operation room, i returned to my room and dropped dead immediately.

We had anime screening on projectors at night but i got a shock as i stepped in the screening room, there were only the 2 committees there, setting up the AV system. Where are the audience? Darn. luckily, people started to fill in the room as the show starts. Phew~ after that, i went back to my room to get infos for my academic essay , which is supposed to be passed up on Thursday. I regretted choosing such a hard topic as i made several futile searches on the web for infos. The more i searched, the more frustration built up in me and the more helpless i felt. I scoured the Net for about 3 hours, getting bits and pieces of infos here and there, but still it wasn't enough. I dreaded that in the end me and Kristine might not even finish a paragraph of the essay. Too tired to continue, I finally left it undone and went to slumberland pass the wee hours. Haiz. 1 day left before doom's day...

Aftermath of Explosion

on 2/19/2005 10:04:00 PM

On friday night we went out at 7pm, with me cooling off a wee bit. I can't go out with a sulky, gloomy face to have fun, can i? hehe. We went around Melaka raya crammed in a kancil with 6 ppl :p and got off to eat dinner in a hawker site. There was a funfair behind it and the site was lit up with colorful lights. I ate duck noodle while the others tried different things. As usual, i was given veggies from some of their meals and this lighten my mood :) i jz love veggie~

At about 8.30pm, our eyes were tore off from the TV projector screen as Jong reminded us where we were. everyone seemed to be enticed by the show on screen. So, we crammed back into Kelvin's kancil and off we went to Mahkota. We were going to watch Constantine there and before that, we went shopping since there's still time to kill. The show was really good, grabbing our attention fully. I've always been fascinated by stories of mythology, of heaven and hell, though i'm not a Christian. The story was about Constantine kicking the devil's ass while struggling to get redemption for his past mistake. I was totally grabbed by the sound effect and the cg that i forgot to get scared. Got shocked several times, yes. But definitely not scared. I do think that the director had done a great job not getting too cliche as well as fooling the audience at certain scenes. Go watch it and you'll see. It's a good show in my opinion.

The ending was abit predictable but what the heck, i enjoyed it very much. So after the show, we went to a bar. A band at the end of the small bar was jamming loud music along with a female singer. Well, the music was jz so-so but it created a nice atmosphere with us playing Snap (a poker card game). It was fun as we pass around cards quickly and try to get 4 similar cards. If anyone has a set, he/she has to 'snap'-got her cards with her hands on table- and everyone follows suit. The last person to do so will be punished. hehe.. curious about the punishment, right? well, most of the time the slowpoke will be smacked on the palm, or worse, on the arm by jong, who hits without mercy. everyone got their share of smacking, Jong too of course :P It was really thrilling and fun. It also helped releasing tension. hehe...

in the end, we left the bar at about one in the morning. the ride back was fine, minus the part where we got stopped by a police. We were damn worried as we were told to give him our ic. We knew that Kancil can carry no more than 5 ppl, but then we asked him to let us go with imploring puppy eye attack. hehe.. we were reprimanded a wee bit as we held our breath, waiting desperately for his release on us. Luckily, he finally let us go after giving back our ICs. Phew! What a relief. It was even scarier than the movie. Kristine was the only one not freezing up and talked back to the police. :P So glad that we had her around.

At about 2am, we got back to our rooms safe and sound. *sigh* what a day. at least i've got over the physics test. hehe.. good for me~

Stupid Exam is over!!!

on 2/18/2005 06:08:00 PM

The Physics test was jz over and i was left angry and frustrated. This is the worst!! I've studied since Monday like mad, trying to cram in all the ridiculous formulae, trying to differenciate between them, trying ever so hard to apply them to the tutorial questions and trying even harder to get the correct answers. I've suffered hair loss because of this subject, of which the lecturer is no better than trash. And this is wat i got. Alien questions, all new species i should say. Really should send them to scientists and researchers and name them after me. Oh, God! Who am i kidding?! This paper sucks to the max! Even worse, i couldn't think during the exam (dunno wat the hell happened to me) and a stomach ache with great timing was eating me up in chunks during exam. Why does it have to be so disasterous?! After all the hard work and hair-pulling, tormenting hours of studying, all i get is Frustration, Fatigue and Ugly rings under my eyes. This is it. I don't want to study anymore!!!

Aaaaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!
(screaming in hostel room at this moment)
*kristine stared and said i screamed like a girl*

I dun want to care about anything anymore. I'm so boiling with anger that you won't want to be near me cos i'll shoot flames and send you running away with your pants on fire. *glares at anyone within sight*

It's over. ppl will say it's jz a test. ppl will tell me to get a grip and maybe give me a few good slaps. Well, I DUN CARE!! Since my backbreaking efforts are not gonna be compensate with good results, which i dun bother about anymore, i'm going out to have LOTS OF FUN TONIGHT. YOU HEAR ME? LOTS OF FUN. NO ONE SHALL STOP ME!!!!!! BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!*gone crazy*

Chinese New Year!!

on 2/14/2005 11:53:00 PM

I've heard ppl saying that when you are no longer enthralled with festivals and celebrations, you've already grown up. Well, i dun know if it's true or not. Before going back home, it was like "ah, no big deal, it's jz chinese new year." and a fren was jz telling me how quiet it was around Melaka for CNY. Besides, we have tests before and even after the holiday, which dimmed the joy of having a week of holiday.

But then, when i got home, the atmostphere changed, or should i say my mood changed. Either way, everything seemed so festive. there's fireworks lighting up the night with colours, loud firecrackers blasting all over the neighbourhood, friends and relatives coming back for reunions and not to forget angpaos to collect. How could I not get into the new year mood? On the New year's Eve, i was filled with anticipation as mom and grandma prepared for the reunion dinner. The air was joyous and lighthearted with the ubiquitous new year songs wafting in it. When I looked around, loving faces which i missed and the familiar place where i was so used to, greeted my eyes like never before. I'm home. Back to where i belong.

With this, i enjoyed CNY like any other kids. I've never had so much fun for a long time. We have steamboat for dinner and we never got fed up with junking all the food stuff in the boiling soup. Mom, dad, my sisters, me and other family members all sat down eating and chatting happily in the warm dining room filled with nice mouth-watering aroma. After that, the TV will be blasting new year movies or concerts while we kids play with firecrackers. It was thrilling as you light the wick with a joss stick and everyone run helter-skelter for cover as it sparks. Then you stare in awe when the explosion kicks in with bright hueful shoots of light. nothing beats simply joy. Really. :P

When my aunt came with her husband and kids, our house got even merrier. The restless kiddos were here and there, with friends and relatives chatting noisily about how the kids had grown, giving remarks on the adults as well, and practically everything else. I was not much of a chatter, but i was jz happy that i'm in the picture. There's angpao collecting also, which is our favourite part of CNY :P. It is a tradition where the adults(usually married) give the kids red packets of $$ each to bring good luck. Anyway, it brings smiles on many faces. The amount of angpao this year was less compared to previous years, but that's due to my short holiday. Anyhow, i'd be grateful being able to get back home for the celebration.

Things aren't the same as they were before. I'd learnt to appreciate them and not take them for granted. For certain, being away from home had taught me this. Although my break for CNY was short, i'm happy that i enjoyed every moment of it. I had spent time with Mom baking cookies, went around town with dad on my trusty bike, fooled around with my sisters and cousins, and 'manja' abit with my grandma. This is what CNY and other holiday seasons are about; getting close with your family again.

hehe.. I've grown up quite a bit, eh? Well, i'm still a kid and am enjoying as much as possible while i'm still at it :P. It's like wat they say, you'll never be young twice, so i'm making out the most of it. Wee~~~

Last but not least, I wish everyone a jolly CNY and an enjoyable holiday!! Have fun while you still can!! hehehe...

Home Sweet Home

on 2/05/2005 09:56:00 PM

Ah... After the crazy party, i was really exhausted but then my stuff were still unpacked. *bleh* Kristine was going out again as Alex and the rest wanted to have supper. I was too tired for that :P. So before going to bed, i tried to pack as much as i remembered to and then dropped dead at about 3sth in the morning.

Before long, i was waken up by Kristine and then got ready in a jiffy. My bus ride back home was at 9am so i was forced to get up early. Dragging myself along with my heavy luggage, Pat and Sharon and me took a taxi to the bus station.

We boarded the bus at 9 and only reached Taiping at 5pm!! it was such an interminable journey, which could be even worse if i was travelling alone. I'd bored myself to death if not for Sharon who chatted with me for the better half of the journey. Juicy gossips were shared and exclaimed in bewilderment while we chatted about our days before going to MMU. *sigh* time does fly pass in lightyear...

Talk about changes. There's a HQ comic shop in Taiping now!! Wohoo! i can use the card even during holidays now! Wee~ We drove pass my primary school and it looked new with the refurbished entrance with stainless steel gate. wow. There's this Guardian opened awhile ago and that 7-11 shop near the bus station. Then there's more pirated cd shops and new Internet cafes mushrooming all over... I can always see changes to my beloved home town everytime i come back. Felt a bit nostalgic. *sobsob* It's jz great to be home...

After dumping my dirty clothes into the washingmachine (all hail the great heavenly machine~) i went out for a bike ride. It was too good to be true... i'm on my old trusty motor again! The air felt totally different; it's so alive! I was instantly refreshed as the chilly air went pass me with joy~ I'm jz too happy i guess ^^

Well, that's it for my first day back home. gotta get sum dinner. *stomach grumbling* >///<"

Happy Birthday, ALEX !!!

on 2/05/2005 07:54:00 PM

wow.. finally, 2 down 3 to go. That prob and stat was a killer. Sudden death that is, cos I din expect it to be so hard. Man! At least the Apply math's not so bad :p. So then, only left Chem on Valentine, English the following day, and the doomed Physics on the 18th. Before that, give me a break!! I demand HOLIDAY!!!!

Phew, right after Apply math, it's as if all the burden were heaved off my shoulder. I was so stressed up and ugly rings appear under my eyes. But it doesn't matter now! I'm going home and going to be eating alot of good stuff~!! *drool.. I miss Taiping food alot la~

Well, about 11sth, me and kristine and Anne went down carrying softdrinks and stuff. We were going to throw Alex a Surprise Birthday Party!! Wee~ it's the second one this year, and i'm going to have fun~ Yeah!

We waited at the stone table for midnight. Meanwhile, I took jon's mountain bike and rode it. I paddled around the EP field, with the cool night breeze caressing my face. It was so much fun (i've never rode one since primary school) but it was nothing compared to my motorbike :P. After one round, i got off to let Elaine try, follow by Ce-yi. They too haven't got on one for a long time. At long last, our Burthday Boy slumberly walk out with Chenli. haha. It was not even 5 mins to 12! Alex you so anxious la, can't wait already issit? :P

We started off with the traditional but unconventional-for-birthday way. Someone propose a toast and CM said that we were to yell until we wake everyone up in EP. We had a chinese version one, having CM, Jon, Cheesey and others yelled "YAM...." thunderously loud and long until they were gasping for air, then followed by "Sheng!!!" (literally means Cheers in Cantonese). Thus the Birthday ritual began with us singing him birthday song with the 19 candles on the blueberry cheese cake. *drool...* Then the icky part started. After he had blown the candles, which Cheesey sank into the cake real deep, Alex was Honoured the task of biting out all of them. Well, it could have been less gruesome, Thanks to Cheesey.. he jz have to tekan Alex's head while he's biting them out one by one. and so, there we have Alex with nose smeared with cream.. there goes my appetite.. not! I was too busy laughing non-stop all the while to get so picky over food. haha..

Then it's the cake cutting and giving session. Mommy got a really huge piece from that good son Alex :P and she was refusing it to no avail. The cake was delicious, but i finished it way too fast *regret* cos i was really hungry. So before long i was drooling over everyone's piece as he devoured it blissfully. Q_Q

It was fun, but the real thing had jz begun. Not sure who started it(most probably Alex, knowing him and all) but before long most of us were smearing cream and berries on each other's face. It was totally chaotic. Alex was having the most fun, applying 'make-up' on every single one of us. Of course he too got his share of the cake! There were so much screaming and running and chasing that ppl might think we were crazy. Chenli was the one among all girls getting most of the cake from Alex and others. She attacked back at Alex, and also CM, only to get more cream on her face :P. I din provoke Alex, but eventually he still got cake on my cheeks. Ew! it was Cold and Sticky! I screamed and ran after him round the table. this vicious cycle happen again and again with different victims and attackers. At the end, all of us smelled like cream and cheese. Jon had his specs smeared and rubbed with cream, Alex and CM were masked with cake while there's Cheese on Cheesey too. We were a horrible sight to behold. hahahah...

Well then, if you think this's it, YOU'RE Terribly WRONG. Ever since the start of the party, CM was ranting and complaining about how we don celebrate his birthday and cos of that he shouldn't be celebrating other ppl's birthday with them. Thus, we took the last piece of blueberry cake and lit the candle on it. There you have it, courtesy of Alex, who suggested we celebrate CM's birthday as well. ^^

As usual, we sang him his birthday song and then let him blow the candle. Then, he will have to go thru wat Alex did, to be fair. So, Cheesey the henchman sneaked behind CM while he was lowering his head down. In split second, "WHOOOOSSH!!" Cheesey had done it!! CM's face touched down and CRASHED INTO the CAKE!!! WOOOHOOO!!! the cake was squashed under him and now we have CM with blueberry-covered nose and Creamy white face!! Ahahahahahah!! IT WAS SO FUNNY!! We would have laughed our heads off if CM din take the rest of the squashed cake to throw at us. Everyone scattered and scrambled out of his reach while roaring with laughter. You'd never see CM so hilarious in a 1000 years!! Wakakakak...

It was the craziest birthday party ever. Too bad it had to end without us tasting the wine, which was our present to Alex. It was getting late, so we cleaned up our mess and then wished Alex happy birthday once again before we parted. Gloominess was clouding over CM as his favourite shirt was soiled with cake and the strong smell. Anne assured him that it will go off eventually after washing a few times while others were debating which detergent was the best to get rid of the stench. I felt a bit sorry for him though. At last, i went back to my room at about 1 and took a bath again before heading for bed. The smell of cheese and cream was really strong.. can even smell it after i bathed. >_<"

Anyway, Wish you had a very jolly birthday, Alex!
and btw, Happy Chinese New Year too~ ^_^
