rainy hometown

on 10/22/2006 05:40:00 PM

I was back in my hometown, which is also known as the rainy town. Without fail, it has been raining everyday since i've arrived last week. My friend in Brazil said it must be one heck of a weird weather to rain everyday, but i was assuring her that it'd be totally weird otherwise, not only because it is the monsoon season currently.

Let me explain abit about the geography of my hometown. On the west it is surrounded by the Titiwangsa mountain range, or more specifically, by Maxwell Hill. And far off the east will be the melacca straits, so the wind blown in from the sea will be trapped by the hills and thus the clouds carried along it. Then condensation happens so often that we could have rainfall at any moment of the day, even in the afternoon, when the sun is shinning perfectly bright.

It was even a sport, or i should say a gamble, to guess how much rainfall for the moment of the day and of course the one with the closest bet will hit the jackpot. I dun know if it is still on now that we have Toto, Magnum and other lottery games but the probability of winning is about the same for any of them, because though it is almost guaranteed to rain, the range of time and the amount of rainfall is unpredictable, as in, you can have rainfall out of the blue and then clears off in a blink of an eye.

Anyway, it is really nice having some rain each day, be it a light drizzle in the morning, passing raindrops in the afternoon or even a heavy downpour that last for a whole day. The haze will clear off too after a rainpour, tho altogether it was not as bad as in Malacca or KL. Maybe it's just that i've gotten used to rainny weather, since i've been living here for my past 19 years. That's why raindrops splattering on the roof proved to be my lullaby while killing off my roommate's sleepiness in Malacca.

It was not until a few days after that i've gotten myself soaking wet under the rain. In the afternoon, i was running an errand for my Mom, to run round the other shop lot behind Mom's shop to photostat some papers. Just when i was reaching the photostat shop it poured cats and dogs. some of the papers were splattered with raindrops but not too bad. After getting the papers done and putting them in a plastic bag, i started running back, and i was soaked thoroughly. But what got me cursing was that as soon as i hit home base, the sky was crystal blue and the sun shone mildly, as if it never rained a few minutes ago. I should have waited but who could predict its lifespan? At least i get to go home instead of staying back for more work :p *bricked*

Well, This morning it was mildly drizzling, and i slept till it was almost 8am. Yes, for those who thought that i had a typo in the last sentance, trust me. I've been waking up at abit off 7am everyday to go jogging with my aunt. damn everyone said i've gain weight.. orz. Have to jog some of the pounds off before i engage myself in more eating. I really hope that the rate of exercizing can burn off more calories at the rate that i'm eating now :p

So lets sum up my 1 week of holiday/laziness: i've finished reading Angels and Demons, as well as When the Wind Blows. I've downloaded more of the new series of animes, naming a few: Dgrayman, PumkinScissors, Red Garden, HatarakiMan, Black Lagoon, Bartender, Chevalier, NHK, Nighthead Genesis. I haven't really touched my jap pass year papers, or mangas that i've downloaded long time ago. But i got to watch my sis playing DoC and Vincent really need some hair treatment cos his strains of hair are poking out and resemble some deadly harpoons XD *killed by vincent fans*

And that's it. will be catching up with long lost hometown frens next week and also get some jap homework done. Gambarimasu! I will try not to look fat when i come back *bang wall*

十月新番! XD

on 10/05/2006 09:31:00 PM

Yes we are in the mid of finals and here i am downloading this month's new anime series. So here are the ones that i downloaded:

D.Gray-Man

Kyaaaa.. have been waiting for this for so long >w< saving it for the last exam XD watched the op tho. jz ok. the anime style not much different from the manga which is a good thing XD ALLEN!!!! *bricked*

Deathnote

hmm.. the op looks creepy. haven't watched it yet but i hope it's better than the live action movie :p

Red Garden

the style is really different and my sis dun like it XD it's about a suspicious suicide of a girl while 4 other girls in the same school, yet hangs out with different gangs were mysteriously kidnapped and return back home with no single memory of where they were the night before. seems like a scifi mystery thriller series from Gonzo.

Pumkin Scissors

I'm really taken aback by the name (and the logo), thinking it must be some stupid anime at first but the story is really interesting. Settings in post war and the story is about a military troup lead by a girl (who reminds me alot of saber orz) and this mysterious scar-face hulky guy fighting against ex-soldier villains who used to be in troup 901XXX which is formed secretly by the government last time. That huge guy who looks meek and quiet is an ex-solder from that troup too, and he's a killing machine when he lights up his eerie blue lantern. Must watch XD

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge

or better known as Perfect Girl Revolution. I was laughing so hard when i watch the first epi. A must follow for comedy and shoujo romance XD

Shounen Onmyouji

i dunno from which this anime is adapted from, novel or manga. anyway i din read any of them so cant' say much. the art looks ok and i've always heard of this title before the anime comes out, so will watch it after finals.

Ghost Hunt

This one is a Horror story. that's all i know XD the first story is about some haunted mansion. will watch it in daytime i think XD

La Corda D`Oro ~primo passo~

Bishi alert!! Bishi alert!! XDDD 7 guys! 1 girl. tough choice. (no one ask you to choose la) *bricked* its setting is in a music school. So those who like classic music and bishis shouldn't miss this i guess :p

Marginal Prince

I am not against BL but this is jz too... my sis said the guys there are low quality bishis and that coming from her, i guess i wont be watching XD
*rants* that green head guy jz sing in the middle of no where, expressing his sorrow, and suddenly he's in white shirt all wet and sexy, seen/stalked by that main chara who got so touched by the song and upset.. wat's this? urgh. it's over dramatic and fake. will not say anything more about it >_<

Lovely Idol
the girls are all moe. happy? i dun like it tho i'd like to have its OST. insert songs are nice XD

And that's about it. I will download black lagoon 2 too, but since i haven't finish watching the first series, i'll go home then watch watever my sisters had downloaded. So anything else you guys wanna intro? :D

*edit* today's line is sucky. will upload pics soon..
oh. i jz change my blog to beta version.. google is indeed dominating everything now :p

Best Project Ever!!

on 9/19/2006 08:32:00 PM

Yesterday's project presentation was probably the next best thing i've ever accomplished after GACC. Why? well, i have to roll back to a week ago.

In short, for our project we had to program a microcontroller and fix it with hardware circuits to produce a basic memory game, where a random sequence of notes is played and player is required to repeat it in order to proceed to the next level, with longer sequences of notes. During that time, we were troubled, because the progress was not encouraging at all. We fixed the circuit and reconnect it multiple times, to no avail. even when it works at first, something would go wrong and our effort down the drain in less then 10 mins. We tried it on breadboard, and then on pcb board, which our lecturer later claim that he did not ask us to use, and lastly on project board. The grueling process involved poking in and plugging out wires while breaking a few of the components' legs/pins, soldering on and off board and scorching it black on the way and also tons of teeth gritting with intermittent cursing.

Things become even more gnawing when it was Sunday, a day before our presentation. Yes, to our dismay, the circuit connection on the project board done by kristine was still not working. There were no response, despite the annoying loud buzzing from the buzzer. Numerous checkings of the circuit were resulted with no apparent mistake found. I felt like being cheated as we had put in so much labour and time. Half giving up, we started to rebuilt another circuit back on the breadboard, hoping for a miracle to happen. All this while, Weiyong, our team leader was checking the project board again, though i was not giving much hope to it.

Anyhow, i kept an eye on her, praying that she could find out the problem. Several times she reconfirmed with Kristine about the connection. Suddenly, After checking with Kristine again, she found out an error! Seems like one of the connection was loose and thus not connected. Kristine resoldered the wire while we waited. And it's time for rechecking. All of us held our breath, and the battery was snapped on.

Silence.

We stared at each other. The buzzing was not emanated. It was a good sign. Still quiet, i cautiously press the initiation button. All LEDs lit up. And the game begins! Afraid that this might end up to be false alarm, i continued playing the game, and could hardly suppress my euphoric expression with every button i pressed as the game proceeds.

No errors.
No hanging of the programme.
Absolutely perfect.

YES! We have finally made it! IT'S ALIVE!! OMG i can't believe my eyes. i almost cried in that instant. Now i know what it feels like to have all your effort paid off in the end. The blissful happiness was more than i can describe. Overjoyed, i calmed myself down. Not so soon. We can't be totally relieved now, as we won't know wat would happen the day after, when the real test was to be conducted. I jz hope that everything will last at least till after the project presentation. We loaded in our latest amended program on the chip, and after some adjustment done for the cover, which was made using kristine's cardboard harddisk box, it was ready for D big day.

Our presentation whizzed thru smoothly, with me crapping alot while not forgetting the main points. The lecturer seem to be very interested with our presentation, which made me and Weiyong relax. He was being very supportive and i responded back to him quite willingly, as if we were having a friendly chatting instead of a presentation *bricked*. Anyway, he did not ask us all the technical questions, which all of us feared so much.

Thus, before long, the presentation ended and then started the project demo. I played the memory game, showing the features we added in. He was quite particular about our notes being harmonious, and we assure him that ours are, by showing him the 2nd mode of our program-- Simple Piano mode. I pressed the 8 buttons one at a time, making the buzzer go 'do' 're' 'mi' 'fa' 'so'.. till the higher octive 'Do'. then i fumbled and played part of 'jingle bell' and he was satisfied. Everyone heave a sigh of relief as he said well done, and indicating the end of the demo.

Well, it may not seem so earth-shakingly excellent, but it meant alot to us. I would not stop smiling the whole day, while wishing other groups goodluck and recounting about our own experience to them XD We were indeed proud of wat we have accomplished and the feeling will be etched in my head for a long time. This was the best day of my gamma 1st trimester. Victory is ours!! Muahahahahaha.... *bricked*

When we getback our project i'd sure will take a pic with our precious creation and post it up here. till then! XD

Yining's last bday in teens XD

on 9/01/2006 04:11:00 PM

Well, yesterday was merdeka day (Malaysia's national day for those who don't know) but instead of celebrating it, we threw yining, my roomate, a surprise bday dinner. Yining's bday was on 30th august (the day before), but since we all had classes that night we postponed it to the next day. Our perfect rendezvous was none other than the one and only Korean Restaurant in melaka, a cozy oriental restaurant called Tok Su Gong.

As it is called a surprise bday dinner, we din tell yining where we were heading, tho i guess she'd had some idea, it's fun to play along until dexter brought us there. As we arrived, the interior was warm with the soft yellow lighting. there's a few tables and chairs arranged near the entrance, with the cashier at the left. then further on there's a tradition korean sitting, where there's a raised up wooden platform and low tables, of which underneath were hollow pits for us to put down our legs.

We were impressed by the setting, and while waiting for our table to be cleared, we stare at the big flatscreen tv showing some korean gameshow. The owner was a petite korean woman with sharp features. When she cleared the table for us, she smiled and usher us there. We were seated at the traditional table, which was near the kitchen outlet. As we waited for our orders, we saw alot of korean food brought out which pricked our curiosity. we even took pictures of them before the waitress served them out. We ate grilled meat, and the red hot kimchi soup :D The food was really nice, tho a little bit expensive. But then, if you go in a group, the price will be ok if you share out.

Then come the cake, bought by Dexter from Yee's bakery. It was jz nice and not too sweet for dessert :D happy 19th bday to yining! *stares at cake*

After devouring the sponge cake, we waited for our watermelon slices, which we observe that every table will be served with after the main course. We have been waiting for a long time already, and once, the waitress brought out watermelon slices, but she din know which table to serve, thus went back in the kitchen again, leaving us crestfallen. We nudged Loomun to make the move, since she's easily pass off as a child and it won't be too embarrassing to let a child ask for our dessert *bricked* So, after much nudging, we got her to ask for it and had our watermelon in no time.

After the bloating dinner, we went to pantai kundur for a walk. it was breezy and nice. we took pictures, fool around and do silly stuff that doesn't match our age. Dexter must be having fun watching and joining in too :D and i found out another bad thing about wearing heels. you can't walk on beach with them :p so we took them off and run around barefooted.

We had much fun in the beach for about an hour i think. then we go around melaka and only when back home at about 11pm. so that's how we spend our merdeka the fun way. and i'm broke again :p until next month then! XD

blank mind..

on 8/28/2006 02:57:00 PM

After having 3 tests in a row, and a whole week of frantic studying, doing nothing except stuffing my mind with formulae and equations even when i'm eating, the eraser debris on my desk and papers scribbled and thrown were more than what i can produce in 2 months. All my free time was used up and classes were sacrificed for the sake of the tests. Even to the extend that after the test were all over, i forgot how it was like to be free, and to procrastinate. Like for instance, now, after my monday 4 hours classes (which i din go for the first 2) i felt empty. i don't know wat i should do to kill the rest of the free time. But before the tests, i would think of so many things that i'd glad to indulge in and so many tasks to get involved with. Hope i'll get rid of this emptyness by reading novels. trying to finish off angels and demons so that i can get back to my old rhythm.

merdeka's coming and my roommate's birthday's a day before.. got to get present for her!! >_< and i have a meeting tonight. Well, i guess it's all coming back. i'm going to be really busy after all. *bricked*

for those who had ym-ed or msn-ed me during my study period, i'm so sorry that i din really answer back nicely (mainly use emoticons to reply) this is because my keyboard is on my monitor and i only have my computer table [without keyboard desk] to study >__< so do forgive me and dun think me as being cold k? *puppy eyes*

guess that's it. even if you see me in campus or out, i might be blurry and probably won't notice anyone due to overconsumption of brain capacity so.. do give my a pat on the back or wave at me frantically to get my attention *Bricked*

still alive

on 8/21/2006 01:31:00 PM

Google is going for world domination! *shot dead*

yea. i'm fried up there due to overstudying. 3 core midterms in a row is not sth you want to mess with, trust me. i still have 3 days more to study 3 subjects, tests covering 2 horribly unintelligible chapters each. so far i've jz finish 1 chapter of math, and haven done others yet. i will see the grim ripper waving at me on thurs.. if not fri, or even sat, which are my test days. orz. enuf ranting already, if not i'll be slapped and wringled by you guys before my tests XD

why is it public school holiday now?! this is jz so unfair *bricked* yea yea.. i have my share of holidays already.. but that's not considered holiday if you have test after that! TT_TT i'm cracked. ignore me pls k thx bye! Shoot me XD

which one?

on 8/10/2006 03:13:00 PM

given a situation, when you are granted a week long holiday, you'd rather..

A: be sick and forced to rest in your home
B: really study for the midterm tests and assignment deadlines after your holiday

well, i got option C, which is all of the above. Sweet. I lost my voice after conducting a meeting on sunday in a really noisy room where the other end can hardly hear what I said, unless 1 knows how to read my lips. After that, my throat felt uncomfortable and got worst on thurs, when we went back home. Just my luck. After seeing the doctor at hometown, i had to fight tremendously against my overwhelming sleepiness so that i can study abit more before i drop dead due to the medication.
so.. i've finished/scanned 3 chapters of micro-p and still 2 more subjects to go. i guess i'm a failure. sigh.

Another situation: if you are diagnosed with terminal disease, would you..

A: sulk at your pitious fate and be in denial
B: recheck to confirm it/get rid of the dreadful uncertainty

for me it's abit of both.

Last time i posted about me going to donate blood in my hometown, and the GH had sent me a letter regarding some problem about my blood. Well, that's half a year ago and i was pronounced clear after doing a retest. Then, overjoyed, i donate blood again, before this trimester started. Again, a letter came to me after that, stating the same issue. I felt like a convict imposed with death sentance. Uncertainty and depression engulfed me, for good. I was diagnosed with Hepetitis C.

"How could this happen to me?!", the very same question asked by those who are declared having left 3 months to live or suddenly caught AIDS. That was a few week before midterm break when i was helplessly asking around for blood test center around melaka. End up, i din go to any of them, because i dun want to spend so much money when i can do the test halfpriced in my hometown (mom got a voucher for Pathlab in Fajah supermarket). It doesn't help if i do the test sooner or later if i really had that virus right, since there's no cure for it. So i force myself to be optimistic and life goes on pretty much.

The few days in between the trip to pathlab and the results announcement was anything but cheerful, tho my throat was getting better. I can't study, and i can't really enjoy reading manga or watching anime at all. All the time i was recalling about the infos about hepetitis C written online and wonder how much the medication for it cost. Well, i'm not really that pessimistic but you really have to be prepared if the worst befalls on you. So.. it's not my fault that i can't finish reading that stupid incomprehendable Electromagnetic. heh.

After days of suspense and uneasiness, today, the result was finally out. There's sth wrong with my liver's enzymes, and i have a bit of urea acid, but.. I'm Cleared of Hepetitis C! YEAH!!! my worst nightmare was gone with the wind. I heaved with great relief, as well as my dad, who went to the gent's straight after the news. Guess his really really worried and i'm so glad i'm ok. the uncertainty and depression vanished in thin air. I'm healthy! tho i've been taking it for granted before this happened, This statement became so precious to me now. So, guys, do care about your health cos it really is the only thing you can have in order to gain other things. So stop taking for granted about your health and start maintaining it! XDDD

Moral of the day: be happy for being healthy and disease free, and work for it!

ok. shit. i have to start studying now if i want to finish my assignment on time. >__< see you guys back in campus! XD

Happy Bday, Shin Dee!!

on 7/15/2006 12:30:00 AM

yes. we are celebrating you getting older XD *bricked*

It was so much fun during shindee's party in Witchery Idel, which is a cafe newly open in U centre. most of the ppl in the party are shindee's coursemates, and me, loomun, weiyong, benny, kristine n qj there too. In the cafe, besides us there were several ppl having their bday celebrations. so being invited many times, we finally pushed shin dee near the music podium and sang bday song together for a long draggy time :p

Shin dee unwrap all her presents eagerly while we watched. got really nice bunch of presents, lucky you XD here's pics of them :D

The fun begins when the cake arrived. XD it was a secret recipe chocolate cake *heavenly* and lucky i din eat a very big piece cos it's very creamy and filling :D

after tat, Shin dee started to cut a smaller cake brought by Benny :D

then came the cake smearing time!! Kristine strikes yet again! XD and here's the priceless pic of the year:

Just that, this was not the only time she got smeared with cream. the vicious cycle went on and on, everytime after she wash her face, she'll be creamed again without fail. *pats Shin Dee*

Well.. this din not go on for long, as shindee strikes back with a full blow! jz that QJ was the biggest victim xD Loomun took a video of the process. Shin Dee cornered QJ who was protecting Kristine, and end up being smeared in the face :D hope you can wash off the new chocolate dye on your sideburns XD

After all the fun and excitement, we had to clean up the place abit *guilty for messing up the place with cream* and we went back, not before taking group pictures:

more pics.. but lazy now XD can't wait to go bon odori!! XD

Happy Birthday again, Shindee! *hugs*
