B4 Convo~

on 8/08/2009 04:36:00 PM

It's been a few days since I've arrived in KL. The haze is horrible and I get even more horrified when I see people wearing masks. sigh.

On Thursday I reached Hang Tuah station on the afternoon and met up with Weiyong to go collect our robes and do the registration stuff together in MMU Cyberjaya. We reached there at about half pass two, and got everything done by three. Lucky us for there's no queue required at all. Then the trip back to KL took around 2 hours due to the long wait for bus and KLIA transit. That's why I hate traveling in KL. It takes longer to travel than doing the thing you want to.

On Friday, I finished up the translating task, ate lunch then went to Sungai Wang to meet up with Loomun, June and William. They were buying presents for Suj and Cyc in Pavilion after lunch there, so I walked to join them too. well, again traveling took 1 hour before I get to see them. After browsing around and getting the right present, we went off to see G.I. Joe. It was really packed with CG actions but with kinda cheesy dramatic plot. But I'm really awed by the would be technology in the movie. 3D interactive hologram, the accelerator and even the cool spectacle Ana wore really got me high. As for real world progress, we have touchable holography now in Tokyo seriously, where there are ultrasonic waves shoots out to create pressure sensation on you when you touch the hologram. Here's the video from pink tentacle.

So after the movie, we had dinner with suj in the foodcourt, where i had this spicy mini beef steamboat from the little taiwan store. It's really good with meatballs, lean beef, corns, some greens and Cellophane noodles or called 冬粉(dong fen). Loo Mun ate Vietnam vege-salad-ish kind of dish, which is totally not her kind of choice at all usually. She was afraid of getting sick, that's why she sacrificed the tomyam she wanted for the greens lol.

Then we went to Lowyat to scout for digicam and prices. Nothing much except everyone got what they wanted there. Then we parted and I went back on monorail, and took bus to return to my aunt's house after one hour plus.

Saturday = lazying around waiting for parents day. I was so free that I typed several emails to my friends in Japan, one usually takes up an hour or so due to my poor japanese grammar. and by the way, I got my TOEFL results from the online website today. Well although I didn't get full marks, it's more than enough to qualify for the entrance requirement for Tsukuba University haha. So who wants the TOEFL guide book to score I bought earlier? It's as good as new and moreover it really helped to score! *wink wink*

Now there's only one day left to convo! Some how I dread the draggy event and can't wait for it to be over soon enough. I'm only interested in taking pictures with friends and family so why can't we skip right to that part instead? lol.

Anyway, I hope to see you all if you manage to be there!

*currently having runny nose due to the hazey condition*

Here are some tips to avoid diseases from the haze:

1. Masks need to be used by all motorcyclists, outdoor workers, those who are exposed to dusty places and those who are in the high-risk group.

2. The public is advised to stay indoors as much as possible.

3. Reduce outdoor activities.

4. Those who are in the high risk group (Children, Elderly, Smokers, Workers in open areas, those who have; Asthma, Bronchitis,Lungs inflammations, Chronic lungs problems, Heart and Allergy) are advised to continue medication as prescribed and take care of their health at all times.

5. The public is advised to wash their hands, face and bathe
regularly.

6. Those who are having cough, flu, asthma, eye irritation, chronic lung infection are required to go to the clinic as soon as possible if symptoms persists.

7. Those who are driving in an air-conditioned vehicle need to
start the air-conditioner and close all windows when driving.

8. The public is advised to drink as much water as possible at all
times.

9. Those who have children, elderly and relatives who are sick in
the house, please do not smoke.

10. Smokers are advised to stop smoking during hours where API is
higher than 101.

11. Those who are in the high risk category are advised to stay
indoors if API exceeds 201.

12. Please tune in to the radio, TV and major newspaper to get an
update on the haze conditions and heed the advice given by Ministry of Health and Department of Environment.

Jz read this in the mmu bulletin board. Later on someone gave me the link to the API (Air Pollutant Index) for all the states here. Well, the condition in melaka is bad enough, having the smokey white sky and blurry visibility. Yet, if we compare the condition here and those in Port Klang or Kuala Selangor, here's nothing. Over there, it's like going back to the time during 1997, when the air pollution was so bad. Click here for pics. Many schools in KL area were shut down for today and tomorrow and this includes Cyber campus as well. For more info read this.

Why the hell this happen to us? Why can't the indonesian government do sth about this annual occurrence? It's damn stupid jz apologizing every year and not doing anything to stop the recurrance. If the excuse is about money, it's lame. I seriously dun think that indonesians are so poor that they can't afford to put off the fire. Hey, wait, why do they burn the forest in the first place? Is it for the sake of agriculture? so that they can have fertilized land to plan their potatos? then why can't they seek a better way of doing it? We dun mind you being poor and having so much racism problem as long as we are not affected over here. but No... you have to cross the line, or perhaps i should say you have to cross the straits and give us this haze siege every year.

ASEAN should really look into this matter and provide good solutions, for our 'caring' neighbour's forest burning is getting from bad to worse. Why does the damn humans only care for their own selfish, short-term gains when the consequences are so obviously bad for others, as well as themselves in the present and future? The earth is already polluted enough! Maybe talking about saving the earth is too much for us puny humans. let's narrow down to our own place. Everywhere is too, polluted, in terms of air, water and others. you see rubbish everywhere, air filled with smoke and other dangerous gases, water only drinkable after being filtered so many times. At this rate of destruction, we are jz digging our own graves, at a faster rate.

Maybe it's not obvious enough, for those ppl have their eyes plastered with $$ and being 6 feet under was such a far away thought, which might not even occur to some ppl. They shunt off all the possibilities that they are in hazardous situations and their family and ppl they care will not be affected at all, because they are going to be rich. why do they even bother after they got all the capital they ever wanted? This is hopeless. Maybe it's better for earth to have only plants and animals...

Anyway, going to get a mask later for outdoors activity...

*edit* here's the newest API :click me:. sorry if i sounded kinda anguish up there.. was very tension cos jz finish my field theory, which i think i flung, and supposedly got test at sat. But then due to the haze, the test was postpone. hehe... at least sth good from the bad condition.. *sweat*
